One week ago we wrote about how a Miami teacher showed Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey to their 4th grade class. In an interview with Variety director and co-writer Rhys Waterfield let us all know that the sequel is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day next year. ![]() The sequel to Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has a release date. We will be sure to keep you up to date on all things Max.īelow you can check out the full Max British movie as well as some of his spin-off intro credits. So, the trippy cyberpunk series is in good hands to make it into the thing it should have potentially always been. Spectrevision is responsible for awesome films like Mandy, The Color Out of Space and Daniel Isn’t Real. Max’s ability to move through computer and television networks freely is a huge help to Edison, who is determined to stamp out the corruption in his futuristic society.” “After he is seriously injured by his corrupt employers, crusading reporter Edison Carter undergoes a procedure to digitize his mind into a computer program personified by eccentric character Max Headroom. The synopsis for Max Headroom went like this: It was just the character of Matt Frewer’s and his approach to being an odd and glitchy dude that set pop culture ablaze. Headroom has had a crazy, crazy ride, especially considering that the television series only lasted two seasons and wasn’t a huge hit within itself. Even Eminem and Selena Gomez used him in music videos. There was almost nowhere you could look where the character hadn’t influenced pop culture. The character then made it to Diet Coke commercials, Newsweek covers, Cinemax for an odd spin-off and he was on almost everyone’s t-shirts. After that, the guy got his own TV series on ABC. The character first turned up in a rarely seen British TV movie called Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future. Max Headroom became a total pop culture sensation in the 80s. Perhaps best of all, original actor Matt Frewer will return as Headroom. Co-creator of Halt and Catch Fire, Christopher Cantwell, will also act as producer. Well, Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah’s production company Spectrevision are working on bringing the series back as a drama series over at AMC. The insane cyberpunk television series starred Matt Frewer as a computer-generated TV host. It feels like he was the decade brought to life. They are among the only truly visionary and artistic and entertaining things to have been on stupid-box since its inception.Live and right now! Max Headroom is the epitome of the 1980s. If you get the chance to see the extant shows, see them. I suppose the final irony was that the show itself was cancelled, but the problems that it warned us about have come true. Each show was intelligent, witty and eerily prescient. I can't believe that the mucky-mucks even allowed this to be seen, nevertheless broadcast. I mean, this was a show whose primary entertainment value was in skewering the very medium which presented it. ![]() My question was never why this show got cancelled, but who the hell got the idea to put it on the air in the first place. ![]() Thank god mass media has not opted for gladiatorial shows. I am glad to see how far off this is from reality - sarcasm :( Another episode involved a sport called rake-boarding, where skateboarders would attempt to disembowel each other while performing nifty stunts. The court is a gameshow with gameshow host for a judge and an opinion poll for a jury. A few episode summaries might help to clarify: Blank Reg (a blank is a person who has been removed from the corporate system, they have few rights, but the 'powers that be' can't easily find them) is put on trial for hacking (a major crime). I was lucky enough to be able to catch MH in sindication on cable a few years ago and to validate my high opinions of the show. This show was beyond cool, it was beyond hip, and it was far too intelligent to have been on the air in the late 80s. I rarely gush about TV shows, especially when they haven't been on in over a decade, but I gush about MH.
